Step 1: Create Your Optimly Account​

Go to app.optimly.io and sign up. Free plan, no card required. Takes about 60 seconds.

Step 2: Create Your Agent​

Once you're in the dashboard, click New Agent. Give it:

  • A name (your business name, or something friendly like "Alex")
  • A short description of what it should help with: "Answer questions about our cleaning services, capture leads, and share our pricing"
  • Your website URL (so it can learn from your existing content)

Optimly generates the agent automatically. You can edit the personality and instructions at any time.

Step 3: Embed the Widget​

In your agent settings, click Embed. You'll see a snippet like this:

Paste this before the closing </body> tag on your website. Every major platform has a way to add custom scripts:

  • WordPress: Use a plugin like "Insert Headers and Footers" or add it to your theme's footer.php
  • Webflow: Site Settings → Custom Code → Footer Code
  • Wix: Settings → Custom Code → Add Code to Pages
  • Squarespace: Settings → Advanced → Code Injection → Footer

Save. Refresh your site. Your AI employee is live.

Step 4: Test It​

Open your website in a new browser window (not logged into Optimly) and start a conversation. Ask a question about your business. See how your agent responds.

If it gets something wrong, go back to the agent settings and update the instructions or knowledge base.
