Quick Start Guide

Get your first Optimly agent up and running in 10 minutes! This guide will walk you through creating, configuring, and deploying your agent.


Step 1: Create Your Account

  1. Visit app.optimly.io
  2. Sign up with your email address
  3. Verify your email and log in

You'll start with a free account that includes:

  • 1 agent
  • 100 messages per month
  • Basic knowledge upload
  • Website widget integration

Step 2: Create Your First Agent

  1. Click "Create Agent" from your dashboard
  2. Choose a name for your agent (e.g., "Customer Support Assistant")
  3. Write a brief description of what your agent should do
  4. Set the personality - friendly, professional, helpful, etc.
  5. Click "Create Agent"

Your agent is now created! Next, let's give it some knowledge.


Step 3: Add Knowledge to Your Agent

Your agent needs to know about your business to be helpful. Let's add some knowledge:

Option A: Upload Documents

  1. Click on your agent
  2. Go to the "Knowledge" tab
  3. Click "Add Knowledge Source"
  4. Upload PDFs, Word docs, or text files about your business
  5. Wait for processing (usually 1-2 minutes)

Option B: Add Website Content

  1. In the Knowledge tab, click "Add Website"
  2. Enter your website URL
  3. Choose specific pages or crawl the entire site
  4. Click "Import"

Option C: Add Manual Text

  1. Click "Add Text Source"
  2. Paste in FAQs, product information, or policies
  3. Give it a descriptive name
  4. Save

Pro Tip: Start with your most important business information - your services, pricing, contact info, and common customer questions.


Step 4: Test Your Agent

Before deploying, let's make sure your agent works correctly:

  1. Click "Test Agent" in your agent's dashboard
  2. Ask test questions like:
    • "What services do you offer?"
    • "How much does it cost?"
    • "How can I contact you?"
  3. Check the responses - are they accurate and helpful?
  4. Adjust if needed by editing the agent's prompt or adding more knowledge

Step 5: Deploy on Your Website

Now let's get your agent talking to real customers:

  1. Click the "⋯" menu on your agent card
  2. Select "Embed on website"
  3. Choose "Chat Bubble" for the easiest setup
  4. Copy the code snippet
  5. Paste it before the </body> tag on your website
  6. Save and publish your website

That's it! Your agent is now live and ready to help customers.
